Scott Steele

Scott Steele is an award-winning former journalist and senior communications advisor. He attended Stratford Central Secondary School, but spent the bulk of his career in Toronto, where he was a writer and editor for Maclean’s and the long-serving executive editor of Canadian Business magazine. In recent years, he has worked as a senior writer and editor for several agencies of the Ontario Government, including the Ontario Telemedicine Network and Ontario Health.
Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Queen’s University and a Master of Arts in professional communication from Royal Roads University. He is a past recipient of the Maclean-Hunter Award for Best Editorial and Column writing, and the International Association of Business Communicators’ Gold Quill Award of Excellence for Media Relations—the industry’s top global award. He has been nominated several times for National Magazine Awards for his writing and editing.
Scott now works as an independent communications consultant and writer for select clients. He returned to live in Stratford in 2021 with his spouse and their miniature dachshund. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, theatre, music, current affairs, politics, as well as travel, fine food and wine.
Scott believes that our 2SLGBTQ+ communities are only as strong as the individuals actively involved—and encourages everyone, including allies and supporters, to get involved.
