Just in time for Spooky Season, Shannon Watters (Lumberjanes) delivers chilling hijinks along with a queer romance in Hollow. Izzy Crane has just moved to the infamous town of Sleepy Hollow, which celebrates its connection to the legendary Headless Horseman with an unrepentant zeal. When students start claiming to be chased by the Horseman, Izzy is certain it’s a prank or that there is some other explanation. Teaming up with her new friends Croc Byun and Vicky Van Tassel (yes, those Van Tassels), she sets out to uncover the truth. Only the truth is stranger than the Legend of Sleepy Hollow itself. And her new love-interest, Vicky is in mortal danger. Hollow dishes up laughs and mystery in equal proportions, and is a fun and raucous read. The illustrative style of the book is reminiscent of modern-day manga, with the art providing much of the humour. Izzy and her friends are relatable and likable, and the supernatural bent of the story is suitably creepy without being scary. Highly recommended.
