Foster Homes & Children

 The Stratford Pride Community Centre (SPCC) is partnering with the Huron-Perth Children’s Aid Society to find queer foster homes for queer foster children in the Huron-Perth area.
“We understand it’s important for children to have commonalities with their foster parents, including an understanding of what it’s like to be LGBTQ+,” said SPCC President Bruce Duncan Skeaff.
“To help find these matches, we’ve built a page on our website for fostering information. We’ll use our social media channels to promote awareness that this new outreach is available and updated.”
Says the H-PCAS: “All children who come into foster care have experienced some sort of trauma in their lives. Queer children have not only experienced trauma, but many also struggle with dealing with their identities. Having an adult be there who has had similar struggles and who understands be there to provide support and guidance is vital in these children’s lives.”
